New Series Launching this Week: "Dear Mama"
Mother's Day is next Sunday and this year, I've decided to celebrate motherhood in its many forms by launching a new series called, "Dear Mama." I'll be honest and admit that I lovingly borrowed this title from a Tupac song praising his mother, Assata Shakur, for the many sacrifices she made while raising her two children as a single mother. The truth is that moms all around the world are making motherhood work despite the many challenges that come with living in a fallen world.
Motherhood is not as it should be because we are not as we should be. For starters, we're mothering sinful children who have to be trained to do what is right and need grace daily. On top of that, we're sinful ourselves and need grace daily! In the words of a t-shirt I saw somewhere, or maybe it was a mug, "Mommin' Ain't Easy," and yet we keep pressing on, answering the call of raising Godly children one day at a time.
From homeschool moms to foster moms to moms of children with special needs, mothers are on the frontlines of raising the next generation. And it must be every mama's dream that one day our children will grow to love and appreciate all the hard work, sleepless nights, prayers and tears we invest into them year after year.
As a mom of two young boys, I've got quite a long ways before my children ever begin to understand the cost of motherhood, and it's quite possible they never will, but one thing that continually encourages me to keep going is reading stories about other Godly moms who are raising their children to love and fear the Lord.
That's why I'm launching the "Dear Mama" series. Each week, I'll be honoring a new mama (because I'm sure we can agree mothers deserve at LEAST a whole month of celebration), and sharing a Q+A about her motherhood journey including the joys and challenges she's experienced along the way. As you read these stories, I hope you'll more fully appreciate how Godly women everywhere are embracing the call to motherhood, and ultimately, I pray they tether your heart more closely to the author of motherhood Himself.
Excited to take this journey with you! Buckle up :-) xo.
