Because He Lives
Easter was this past weekend. We celebrated Christ’s resurrection at church and witnessed nearly 50 people get baptized in the parking lot! The boys dressed up in their Sunday best and actually managed to keep their outfits clean the whole day, which was miraculous in and of itself. We ate dinner with family and held the annual Easter egg hunt.
It was pure joy and pure exhaustion tangled together.
I can’t help but feel blessed that I get to witness my boys growing to love Jesus. I wish I could bottle my son’s delight at opening the last Resurrection egg on Sunday only to find that it’s empty and Christ has risen!
Our freedom has been purchased. Our salvation is won. Our future secure.
All because He lives.
The best news? He’s coming back! He will resurrect us unto Himself!
What a balm for this achy heart. The older I get, the more I long for my true home — the one outside of this world where truth reigns and justice rules and Christ is all and in all.
Easter is a reminder that He is making all things new, me included. Is there any better news in all the world?!
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know, He holds the future.
Life is worth the living, just because He lives.
